Posidonia 2010 Athens7th June 2010

Visitors to Posidonia are often surprised at how small the world of Greek
Shipping is given the huge size of its market share. This was never more
evident than at the AP&A Group and Newcastle University Posidonia
Party 2010 where different generations, families and fellow ex students
celebrated together. |
Now a prominent fixture on the Posidonia Week social schedule, the event was held again
at Dreams, Glyfada where the spectacular sea-side setting provided the perfect backdrop
to an evening which was part-reunion, part family-gathering but mostly an entertaining
night for all. It is well known that many senior figures in Greek Shipping have all enjoyed
their time studying engineering or naval architecture in the North East of England
(including AP&A Managing Director Andreas Papadakis) but now they have also been joined
by a younger generation of “Geordie Greeks”. While the youngsters might not yet be ahead
in the board room they clearly led the pack on the dance floor.
This unique mix of young new talent and worldly experience gives confidence to all those
hopeful for a bright future for Greek shipping and will surely continue the pre-eminence
of Newcastle University for Marine and Engineering studies.
That certainly also means many more Posidonia reunions in the future. |
